Risk and Trading Disclaimer
For the Tabu: trading bots app (the version you run on your own server).
1. Trading can lose you money
Buying and selling shares, funds and other investments carries a high risk. Prices can fall as well as rise, sometimes very quickly. You can lose some or all of the money you invest. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
Past performance, including any profit shown in the App, is not a reliable guide to future results.
2. Automated trading has extra risks
TABU bots place orders automatically, following the settings you choose, while you are not watching. This adds risks such as:
- a bot repeating an action many times (for example buying again and again while a price keeps falling);
- orders placed at a worse price than expected, because prices move between the decision and the order;
- settings entered wrongly (a wrong ticker, amount, percentage or currency);
- a bot stopping, restarting or running late (server problems, internet problems, updates or maintenance);
- errors in the bot's code, in the App, in the TABU server or in the systems of Trading 212 or other providers;
- orders that stay open on Trading 212 after a bot is stopped (for example limit sell orders).
3. Test programs
The bots that come with TABU are test programs. They may not work as intended or may place wrong trades, especially after an update to the App, the bot, the server or Trading 212. Bots you create or upload yourself have not been checked by TABU at all.
Always try a bot on the Trading 212 demo (practice) account first, and keep checking it when it runs on a live account.
4. Fees, currency and tax
- Trading 212 and other providers may charge fees, including currency-conversion (FX) fees on shares priced in another currency.
- Exchange rates change. A share can rise in its own currency and still lose money in pounds.
- Profit and fee figures in the App come from Trading 212's data or from estimates, and can be incomplete, late or wrong. Trading 212's own statements are the official record.
- You are responsible for your own tax. The App's figures are not tax advice and are not a tax report.
5. Market data
Prices, charts, dividend dates and market hours shown in the App come from third-party sources (mainly Yahoo Finance and Trading 212). They can be delayed, missing or wrong. Dates marked as estimates are guesses based on past dividends.
6. Not advice
TABU does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Nothing in the App, its bots, templates, examples or texts is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any investment. TABU does not suggest tickers. You decide what to trade and how your bots are set up.
If you are not sure whether an investment is right for you, speak to an independent, authorised financial adviser.
7. Your responsibility
You are responsible for:
- every bot you start and its settings;
- checking your Trading 212 account, open orders and positions regularly;
- stopping a bot and cancelling orders on Trading 212 when needed;
- keeping your Trading 212 key and your TABU login safe.
TABU's liability is limited as described in the Terms of use.
